Report Back to Members
Published on 13th May 2018 in UncategorizedLooking back at the first seven months that the current Committee have been in operation, my sense is that we have achieved significant milestones and that there is more to achieve.
The move from Thursday to Wednesday for our main midweek competition has proved successful and, at the prompting of our over-65’s, we have introduced a 9-hole competition on Thursdays.
More recently we have changed the formula for our prize payouts and the feedback we received to date is very positive, particularly as it provides transparency as to how the prize values are arrived at.
We continue to work at our Junior development, support the Pennant teams and we believe, provide a friendly environment for the many of us who just wish to come to Yarrambat to enjoy our golf with our mates.
The areas we are working on to improve are mainly around transparency to do with our competition formats and we hope to approve at the June meeting, an online booklet covering in detail all the various formats of competition. If this proves useful, we will follow it up with a printed handbook which you can keep in your golf bag.
Also, we have set new procedures in place to ensure that there are no longer last-minute changes to competitions.
Continuing our efforts towards transparency, the Committee voted to introduce the following policy in regard to weather-affected competitions: ‘If any player or group of players cannot complete the day’s competition due to an abnormal weather event, then the competition is cancelled, no prizes will be paid out and all entry monies will be refunded. (Note that a member of the Match Committee, or in their absence, a member of the main Committee will make the call as to whether an abnormal weather event has occurred and their decision is final)’.
If you have any concerns or wish to communicate with the Committee for whatever reason, please address your communication in writing (email is fine),to the Secretary. He will table your communication at the next committee meeting and this will allow us to address any issues. Unless you follow this procedure, your concerns will not be addressed by the Committee.
Jason Gianginis tendered his resignation from the committee last week, due to family commitments and we thank him for his hard work as the club’s Vice Captain.
Rob Paravazzini was voted in as the new Vice Captain and we wish him well in his new role.
