After a great deal of interest over the past 12 months an 2018 / 2019 Order of Merit commenced November 1.

Two distinct Order of Merit events will be available to all members including those who play in Wednesday events,  those who play in Saturday events or those who play in both.

Points will be allocated on a sliding scale – FedEx Cup style -, to players in all designated events, including; all Monthly Medal, Club & Midweek Championships, Captain’s Cup and most individual Board events, as well as other selected events – to encourage and reward regular member participation.

Total points will be determined by the size of the field – as a guide – 5 points are awarded per player:

70 players = 350 points

1st = 100% or 350

2nd = 90% or 315

3rd = 85% or 298

4th = 80% or 280

then points are awarded at reducing increments  all the way to 60th place (and the rest of the field are then awarded nominal points for playing.)

The Order of Merit will commence with the November Medals and will run to 31 October 2019.    The opportunities to earn points will be many, with up to 22 rounds for Saturday and 16 rounds for Wednesday, and because every round you play counts, one or two poor rounds will not count you out! 

Cost of entry to the OOM will be free this year, as we are trialling the concept to see how it works, and a Shield and nominal prizes will be awarded in the first year. If the events prove successful, then an entry fee and cash prizes may be introduced next year.

As it is a completely new event concept for YGC, we look forward to seeing it pan out, and to note any improvements going forward.

The Leader boards are now visible via the My Information tab, then go to the bottom of the page below Eclectic. 

Select ‘Order of Merit’, and then select either the Wednesday or Saturday Leaderboard.
