The Golf Gods taketh away, the Golf Gods giveth…

In near perfect conditions Sandra Rowles, Vince DiStefano, Brian Summers and Peter Pearse ventured out early on Sunday morning to take on the Par challenge.

After an uneventful start to the round, Brian stepped up on the 5th and struck a perfect shot, heading straight for the pin. A couple of bounces and bang – ricochet – off the stick and 5 meters away! Brian was shattered – his hole-in-one had slipped from his grasp. So devasted was he that he missed the birdie putt, but walked off with a par (+) wondering what could have been.

The group made their way through the course to the 8th. Brian again stepped up and struck his 54 degree sand wedge crisply, landing it around the 85m he was looking for, before it disappeared from view behind the reeds.

Brian and Sandra walked up to measure the only ball on the green which had come to rest about 2m below the hole. As he placed the end of the tape measure at the edge of the hole Brian said “Oh shit, there’s a ball in here” sure enough Brian’s Srixon with black dot sat at the bottom of the hole.

Needless to say Brian was absolutely stoked! (and maintained his composure to finish +3 on the round.)

Congratulations!

For the trivia buffs:

A hole in one a 12500 to 1 achievement (or about once in 3,125 rounds) for an ‘average’ golfer!
