First Hole in One for the 2021/22 Season
Published on 1st December 2021 in UncategorizedThe December midweek medal saw a perfect Wednesday morning on the first day of summer, with the sun shining and a zephyr of a breeze ruffling the few grey hairs most of us have left, as a group of seasoned golfers approached the 199 metre, par 3, 5th hole.
Waiting for the Club Captain’s group to clear the green Bruce Tudhope, Tom Finch and Paul Reid took their (lay up) drives. Bruce (dribbled?) one into the bunker, Tom and Paul played ‘strategically’ down the right side to ‘open up the green’. Gary Phillips seeing the efforts of the experienced member of his group said, “Well, too far for the 3 Wood, better get the driver”. He pulled out his trusty 10 degree Cobra and swung true, flying straight as an arrow. Bruce says “Oh oh!” as the ball lands short of the mound, takes big jump over and runs straight to the hole. Hearing the yahoo-ing and age-inappropriate celebration and jubilation from the 5th, Captain Joe ran back from the 6th tee to see what all the fuss was about, had a look in the hole and and gave the big thumbs up. Gary’s first hole in one! ⛳
Congratulations Gary.
Then just to prove he is human Garry followed up with a 13 on the par 3 16th! (I just hope he had safely bagged the lucky ball first!) How good is golf!
