Hole Index (Re-posted from 2021)

Published on 15th January 2022 in Uncategorized

Members,

For many years we played the course unchanged, despite our changing membership and abilities. The hole index for the gold course was the same as the blue course, despite the obvious increase in difficulty on some holes when played from the back – such as the 18th, 9th and 6th.

We consulted Golf Australia regarding the management and playability of the Course, and looked back at the hole scores recorded across thousands of rounds on the Blue, Gold and Red courses between January 2016 and January 2021.

This hole analysis has produced some significant changes, which I have no doubt will make everyone think “well that was obvious”!

On February 1st 2021 the hole index changed – so for those who played the course for years unchanged, you must refer to the scorecard or MiScore app before playing the hole – you may have an extra shot or two (or you may have to concentrate a bit more).

Below are snap shots of what the index was, the 5 year average hole score and the new index.

There are some notable differences such as the 5th climbing 7 places to be the 8th hardest hole, and real differences between the blue and gold courses – such as the 9th: rated 4 off the Blue and 11 off the Gold!

This represents the course as it is played, and how it is played by our members.

These changes came in to effect on 1st February 2021.
