A disappointing day for the Yarrambat Black stable at our perfectly presented home track (let’s not talk Corella’s) and with a couple of stable stars missing, a spot in the semi’s was there for the team’s taking but it was not to be, 3 wins, 1 half and 3 losses, all runners gave their all and despite having the best individual win/loss stats, we came up just short on the pesky team results!
Young Tommy did it again, 3 extraordinary powerful wins in a row, it’s looking very much like a picket fence, again jumping well from the gates, again giving away a massive 7 shots to ‘again’ easily defeat his opponent 3 and 1, apparently there was some talk, obviously scuttlebutt, that he was heading for a stud career but with form like this he will keep running around, he may even be nominated for The All Star Mile!
Mr. Gilly L, as expected was solid from start to finish and with his intricate knowledge of the track took this advantage to easily cruise to a comfortable win 2 and 1!
Mrs.Jacqui L, came back strong from her short spell, jumping well and jostling for most of the run drew away the last furlong for a super gutsy victory 1 up!
In the distance race of the day, the very last to finish, NICKTK went with the field and in what became a titanic battle, the lead changing several times in the straight, at the post the judge couldn’t separate them, a dead heat, all square!
You’re a Wimp Wilson shot out the barriers for an early 1 length lead but couldn’t maintain the stellar form of last week and weakened late in the straight to go down 2 and 1, there’s bound to be another post race swab happening here!
Brucey T was never really in the hunt, after tailing off early he did make some ground in the middle stages but was left flat footed when the field sprinted at the 6 hundred plodding past the post a 3 and 2 loss!
As for Mickydub (Wilson not Waters) our very own “Bold Personality” filling in for the late scratching of Micky MSW, both highly priced imported colts, didn’t have much luck against a very in form galloper going down 5 and 4, but we all know weight can stop a train, will look for a claiming race next start!
So that’s it in a nutshell, all in all a great day was had by most, our underrated track in great nick, a fantastic convivial atmosphere on the 19th with a straw poll among punters producing a huge majority thumbs up! Special thanks to Matt and Brock and all the Belgravia crew for the seamless and professional after event festivities, and the usual suspects at YGC Peter, John, Joe and the rest of the gang in the background!
We move on to next week at Royal Heidelberg where it looks as though there may be a Yarrambat v Yarrambat, now that will be interesting, especially the “Bragging rights”
Cheers for now, Wilso. And Go Bats!
