A call to alms! Can you help?
Published on 1st July 2018 in UncategorizedMany of you will know, or know of, Rob Laughlin, Yarrambat GC member, father, self-employed builder of eco-friendly pole houses, and a genuinely good bloke.
You may also have heard of his recent challenges. Rob has two teenage boys, he sadly lost his wife to breast cancer in 2016 and was diagnosed with bowel cancer in late 2017. He has undergone significant illness, surgeries and chemotherapy and has recently spent 4 weeks in the Austin battling a mystery illness which has seriously threatened his life.
Unfortunately due to a bout of cancer in his 20’s, Rob was unable to obtain income protection, and as you can imagine, things have been tough.

The Diamond Creek Football Club, (and fellow YGC member Mark Wilson) are arranging a fund-raising night on behalf of Rob and the boys.
When: Friday the 20th of July from 5 to 8 PM
Where: Diamond Creek FC – Elizabeth Street clubrooms (Coventry Oval).
What: Raffles and auctions of donated goods and memorabilia
A low-key night, food and hot beef rolls and full bar will be available, and a percentage of the bar takings will be donated

At this point Robert’s prognosis is reasonable, fingers crossed, but we’re certain he will triumph over these, by far, his toughest 18 holes.
Members are asked to consider a $5 (voluntary) donation on the July Monthly Medal Rounds – Midweek and Saturday to help raise funds for Rob and his boys.
Please place and donation in a separate envelope in the Comp Fees box – marked “Donation”.
Thank you.
Stuart Thompson – Vice President
John Ward – Vice Captain
