8th hole update and drop zones.
Published on 5th October 2018 in UncategorizedMembers,
Work commenced on the renewal of the 8th green on Monday, with initial excavation of the site.
The area is fenced off, and the area within that fencing is Ground Under Repair.
Ground staff have established 3 Drop Zones If your ball should enter the construction site (GUR) or the hazard left of the green.
If your ball is located, or it is known or reasonably certain that is it lost within the GUR behind the temporary green, you are to drop your ball, without penalty, into the nearest Drop Zone at the rear of the green. (Rule 25c)
If your ball clears the hazard, and makes landfall on the other side, but then enters the hazard to the left of the green, and you are certain of the point of entry, you can drop, under penalty of one stroke, within two club lengths of the point of entry and no nearer the hole.
If your ball crosses the margin of the hazard to the left of the fairway (yellow marker), or you are uncertain of the point of entry past that point, there is a Drop Zone next to the permanent red tees. (Penalty: one stroke)
The end of the bitumen path has been temporarily covered with mats to reduce the chance of uncontrolled bouncing and this area is defined, by white paint, as GUR.
It is intended to cover the path more thoroughly with the green corings after October 11
