Good evening all,

On behalf of the YGC Committee I welcome you to the YGC Presentation Day and Lunch on Saturday 22 December.

Bookings for the day have now closed and the team sheets have been finalised and locked (to prevent any accidental changes).

A small group of your Committee members worked into the late hours on Wednesday evening, randomly drawing and balancing the teams and handicaps to ensure an even competition – but,  the day is not really about the competition.

It is a chance to come together, as a Club, and recognise and celebrate the many achievements of our Members. 

It is a chance to mingle with others with whom you may ever have played, to broaden horizons and minds and find new friends to share a round or a beer.

Some details about the day:

Arrival – please arrive around 7AM to permit time to get your coffee, warm up and find your group and assigned tee.

First groups tee off at 7:50 AM sharp! – please be at your assigned tee ready to go by 7:45 AM – an air horn will sound – please do not tee off early. 

Playing groups will be posted outside the Bat Cave on Saturday morning.

On arrival, make your way to the Bat Cave and tender your $5 competition fee to Joe Caruana.

Shayne Cairns will assist you find your tee and the low marker of the group will collect the group scorecard.

Jenny Bernhardt, Lesley O’Çonnell and John Ward will play Santa’s helpers – make sure you see them!

The format of Saturday’s competition is a seeded Ambrose from the Movable Gold –

• each player must play a minimum 3 drives (nominate P1 P2 P3 or P4 on card’by putting a dot in their column)
• once the preferred ball is selected – all other balls are to be played within ONE hand-span
  • if the preferred ball is in a bunker or hazard – all other balls must be played from the same condition
• this format continues until the ball is holed
• for groups of less than 4 – ONE extra putt (per group) & by any player is permitted (at this stage there are none)
• pace of play – please be ready to play when it is your turn, and keep up with the group in front
• should your group achieve an NTP – all players in the group will be awarded – please record Team Captain’s name
• 14th hole – NTP 2nd shot – please record Team Captain’s name.

Presentation Lunch

At the completion of your round, please stay and enjoy the end of year lunch with your fellow Club members. Lunch will be buffet style and served by Bunker’s Cafe staff – please be both patient and polite – and full of Christmas spirit. 

After Lunch our Members’ achievements will be recognised with the presentation of Medals and Trophies.

These awards will be conducted with due deference, but will not be protracted. Door prizes will be also drawn, and a novelty Giant Inflatable Chipping Target will be in place outside, with $2 for 3 balls, (all monies and any donations will go to the Belgravia Foundation to help disadvantaged people access the sports we love and often take for granted) prizes will be awarded (at the discretion of the Committee – no double chips til next year Jason!)

We ask that our Members treat this as the premier YGC social event, while mingling with fellow golfers in a convivial environment. 

Let’s take this opportunity to remind ourselves that we are one proud club – the Yarrambat Golf Club – and enjoy the day in each other’s company as we reminisce about 2018 and  look forward to an exciting 2019.
