Bunkers: Words fail me!

Published on 12th July 2022 in Uncategorized

Members,

All bunkers have rakes and today (Wed 13th July) the ground staff had groomed the bunkers.

If you really can’t be bothered thinking of anyone but yourself, then feel free to play by yourself – we do not need members like this.  And how does the rest of the playing group not say something?

Lift your game!

For those who may not know or have forgotten the basics of bunker etiquette,

  • Enter from the lowest point
  • Play your shot/s
  • Rake the bottom of the bunker
  • Reverse the rake and smooth the face / sides of the bunker
  • Leave by the lowest point
  • Smooth your exit point
  • Lay the rake flat at the bottom of the bunker, parallel to the hole, and about 1 metre in from the edge, so the ball will roll to the flat of the bunker. Do not leave the rake outside or on the side slope of the bunker!

Caring for the course by repairing your divots, pitch marks and bunker play is part of the game.

Enjoy your game and embrace the responsibility that comes with being a golfer, not just a selfish hack. Please ensure the only thing the players who follow you can complain about is their own shot making – and not landing in your footprint, or unfilled divot.
