Yarrambat Blue

Probably not the start to the season we wanted but all players enjoyed the competition and comradery.

Of note was Russell Laws (the new kid on the block) breakout victory against stiff opposition and David Morley (the Iceman) coming from behind to snatch victory on the last hole. Others were not so fortunate including yours truly (me) who was trailing by 4 holes with 5 to play and got to 1 down with 2 to play only to lip out a gettable putt on the 2nd last hole to go 2 down with 1 to play. Bugger!

Never mind, it was a great day played in perfect conditions on an excellent golf course with really good and friendly competition.

Looking forward to Round 2!

Yarrambat Black

A disappointing day on a cloudy but good rated 4 Box Hill track for the Yarrambat Black stable, but stick with us the green shoots will pop/poop through!

A huge win for “Rod the Pumpa” and that unique whip action, not that he needed it on Monday, after missing the kick by 3 and giving away 6 shots started a sustained run around the field to mercilessly pummel his opposition 6 and 5 easing down on the line hard held!     Solid 6/4 favourite next start.

“Young Tommy”, aka Woodcock, taking full advantage of his lightweight and if you don’t mind conceding 4 shots comfortably held his ground for a solid 5 and 4 strong win, he’s a well seasoned galloper!     Even money next start pending barrier draw.

“Eric the articulate” screamed out the gates winning  8 out of the first 10 so consequently cruised to the line under a hard hold with ears pricked saluting the crowd on the post for a 4 and 3 victory!     9/4 and firming for next run, but will wait for the weights.

Now the green shoots.

The Lamoureux’s… The Fiery colt “Mr. Gilley” held his own but was unlucky in the run and just couldn’t get a clear run through the pack finishing close up but going 1 down and may be looking for further!     Awaiting betting market.

And the filly “Mrs. Jacqui” had a similar run to “Mr. Gilley” in a carbon copy type race and followed the pack going to the line to record a 3 and 2 loss, remembering we are all first up after a long spell!    Again, awaiting betting markets.

Stable favourite “Brucey T” jumped well to be in the leading group most of the trip and right on the speed only to run out of condition in the last furlong going down by 2 in a real head bobber, will strip fitter next start!     Watch betting markets.

As for “You’re a Wimp Wilson”, he badly needed the run first up on a very new track and against a very inform competitor (bloody hell he hit 15 fairways), tailed off miserably to record a 6 and 5  shellacking, no excuses, over the jumps this week to sharpen things up!    Betting, double figure blow out chance.

Watch out next week for Stable stars “Nicky TK” and “Micky MSW Waters” having their first starts both are very fresh and kicking their brands off, so we are looking forward to travelling to the great metro track ROSANNA next Monday!

Go Yarrambat and Cheers Wilso.
