Senior’s Pennant Round 2 @ Rosanna

YARRAMBAT BLUE

A good improvement on last weeks results albeit we were pipped at the post by a very strong Rosanna Red side who used their local knowledge of the course to great advantage

Nonetheless we did win 3 out of 7 matches which in my opinion was a pass mark given how close some of the games were.

It was nice to see Vas and Peter get onto the winners list after last weeks games and Rob (the hyphen) won in a tight contest in his 1st outing. Others were not so fortunate, in particular Allan (the Demon) Searl who lucked out on the very last hole due to some fortuitous putting by his opponent Robin Bliem. Bugger!

Overall it was a great day played in perfect conditions on an excellent golf course with really good and friendly competition.  We now look forward to playing at home against Box Hill Mustangs in a do or die effort to reach the playoffs in Round 4.

Looking forward to Round 3!

Regards,

Mike Di Vincenzo
Captain

YARRAMBAT BLACK

Under a gloomy sky with a coolish breeze the Blacks were off to Rosanna for the second of a 7 race card with the track  presented in near perfect condition, and what a day for the stable, comfortably taking out 6 races with a dead heat in the other!

Where to start, they were all group class wins!

Rod the Pumpa, following his tremendous win last week battled in his run bobbing and weaving, looking for a gap only to get a late split and after turning 3 down, ground away to dead heat right on the post!

Eric the Articulate missed the kick slightly and settled at the rear of the field for most of the race but with guts and determination wore his opponent down in the straight to go 1 up at the judge!

NickTK, the fresh runner was never headed and bunching the field at the turn scooted away at the furlong mark winning in great style 4 and 3, an impressive return to racing!

Young Tommy (Woodcock) was tardy out of the stalls, (giving away 11 shots will do that to a colt at the jump!) but with his lightweight and experience drew away for an easy 4 and 3 victory!

Stable fave BruceyT knuckled at the start and took a furlong or so to settle and like Young Tommy was giving 11 shots but stormed past his opposition, running away for a glorious 5 and 4 win!

Mr. Gilley L  flew the gates and dictated terms for the entire race laconically cruising for an all the way win looking over his shoulder and easing down with 200 to go, at the wire, a very handsome 6 and 5 result!

As for You’re a Wimp Wilson, after a Stewards enquiry and urine sample, which came back negative but with elevated Crown Lager levels absolutely bolted in front jogtrotting to the line for a conclusive 7 and 5 triumph! I might add he was called a double figure blow out chance last week!

Now for Royal Yarrambat next week, our home game and we will show little mercy, with the stable “choc full” of confidence, watch out for Mrs. Jaqui after her short sharp spell and possibly the well seasoned import Mick (MSW) Waters both eager to have a crack on home turf!

Cheers for now Wilso.  And go Blacks!

YARRAMBAT RED

Hello all Yarrambat Senior’s Pennant players.

Firstly I apologise for the late report and also for not getting my act to together and reporting last week. Better late than never.

On a calm and windless morning the Yarrambat Reds started their round at the beautiful Rosanna course. I believe we were already on the back foot as we were playing the home team with their home ground advantage. Either way this didn’t daunt the Red’s players.

Michael (no chance) Hou was pitted against a real tough opponent. He basically had no chance as the guy had birdie or par for the first 10 holes and Micheal went down 8/7.

Jenny (AKA JB you’ve done it again) Bernhardt had a similar pair up with a crafty, experienced, old player who used his local knowledge to full adavantage and she lost 8/7.

Rob (the Italian stallion) Parravazinni had a tumultuous battle and was 2 up at one stage and let the lead go on the home straight and came out square.

Ishikawa Katsumoto (the quiet Ninja), Katsu went down 8/7. At the end he didn’t have much to say about it.

Rod (‘I picked a bad day to give up flying’) Heideman couldn’t fully get off the tarmac and went down 4/2

Paul (The Dolphin) Ceberano had a great battle with his opponent. Brian  was extremely experienced around the greens and fairways and made the battle tough.  I avoided the water and rivers as much as I could, even though they were drawing me to them I eventully came out victorious 4/3.

Over all team did as best as they could. I can’t wait to give it a go at our home ‘Bat course next week.

Cheers Paul
