On Saturday 21 December – Presentation Day – Ian Hastings had just walked off the 5th, comfortable that his 7.5cm had secured his first NTP for a while.

 

Enter the next group, and Allan Searl.

 

Slippery set up his shot with the intention of getting it closer than Micky D’s tee shot, hoping to at least set up the chance for a team birdie. For some reason he was using his 6 wood which is fairly new to him and definitely not his favourite club.

 

Nonetheless he hammered his shot to the green with his traditional baby draw. The ball bounced about 5 metres short of the green and then headed directly to its target. Unfortunately Al’s eyesight is not that good and the only one who was certain it went in the hole was Micky D. 

 

Allan rushed to the hole and to his astonishment there it was! Bottom of the cup!
